Junior 1: English for 11-year-olds
New school, new step.
Junior 1 is the level for 11-year-olds, in their first year of middle school. English through interaction: moving from studying the language to using it in real situations through conversation, pair and group activities, language games, problem solving and Cambridge preparation.
The goal of the year
From children’s English to teenagers’ English.
By the end of the year in Junior 1, every student:
Converses in pairs and in teams about school, sport and hobbies
Uses grammar in real situations, not just in exercises
Works with the group to solve problems in English
Understands, interacts and communicates with growing independence

2 × 60 minutes a week (120 minutes): LANGUAGE LAB + SPEAK UP
LANGUAGE LAB — building the language
60 minutes to move from studying English to using it in real situations. Grammar and vocabulary develop in a practical context through language games, problem solving and Cambridge preparation.
SPEAK UP — using the language
60 minutes of conversation and pair and group activities: understanding, interacting and communicating with growing independence. SPEAK • COLLABORATE • THINK • COMMUNICATE.
