The kokoland.it website uses cookies and similar technologies to ensure that its processes work correctly and to improve the experience of using its online applications. This document provides detailed information on the use of cookies and similar technologies, on how they are used on kokoland.it, and on how to manage them.
Definitions
Cookies are short pieces of text (letters and/or numbers) that allow the web server to store information on the client (the browser) for reuse during the same visit to the site (session cookies) or later on, even days afterwards (persistent cookies). Depending on the user's preferences, cookies are stored by the individual browser on the specific device used (computer, tablet, smartphone).

Throughout the rest of this document, we will refer to cookies and all similar technologies simply as “cookies”.
Types of cookies
Based on their characteristics and use, cookies can be divided into different categories:
Strictly necessary cookies. These cookies are essential to carry out activities requested by the user. For example, to store information provided by the user while browsing the site, or to manage “login” status during the visit. These cookies, always sent from our own domain, are necessary to display the site correctly and in relation to the technical services offered, and will therefore always be used and sent, unless the user changes their browser settings (which would then affect the display of the site's pages).
Analytics and performance cookies. These are cookies used to collect and analyse site traffic and usage anonymously. Without identifying the user, these cookies make it possible, for example, to detect whether the same user returns at different times. They also make it possible to monitor the system and improve its performance and usability. These cookies can be disabled without any loss of functionality.
Profiling/advertising cookies. These are persistent cookies used to identify (anonymously or otherwise) the user's preferences, show relevant ads and measure their effectiveness. The kokoland.it website uses them only with the user's specific consent for the “Advertisement” category: see the Google Ads paragraph below.
Cookie duration
Some cookies (session cookies) remain active only until the browser is closed or a logout command is carried out. Other cookies “survive” the browser being closed and remain available on subsequent visits by the user. These cookies are known as persistent cookies, and their duration is set by the server when they are created. In some cases an expiry date is set, while in others the duration is unlimited. However, while browsing the pages of the kokoland.it website, users may interact with sites managed by third parties, which may create or modify persistent cookies.
Third-party cookies
When visiting a website, you may receive cookies both from the site you are visiting (“first-party” cookies) and from sites managed by other organisations (“third-party” cookies).
Google Ads
The kokoland.it website does not use Google Analytics or any other web traffic analysis tool. It does use the Google Ads conversion tag (ID AW-17836069247), which measures the effectiveness of online advertising campaigns and allows relevant ads to be shown on other sites. This is a third-party cookie that is only loaded if the user gives specific consent to the “Advertisement” category in the cookie management panel; if consent is refused or withdrawn, the tag is not loaded and no cookies of this kind are set.
Meta (Facebook) Pixel
The site does not currently use the Meta/Facebook pixel, or any other third-party advertising tool besides Google Ads. If it is activated in the future, it will be added to this list together with its purposes and the consent category required, and will only load after specific consent.

Users can refuse or withdraw consent to the “Advertisement” category at any time from the “Cookie preferences” link in the site footer, or manage Google ad personalisation from their own Google account: https://myadcenter.google.com/.
Google Maps
This site uses Google Maps “cookies” to display the interactive map and the preset location. They are also used to store user preferences while using the map.

Managing cookies
On first visiting the site, a banner lets users choose which cookie categories to accept (Necessary, Functional, Analytics, Performance, Advertisement): necessary cookies are always active, the others only run with specific consent given for each category. The choice is saved locally on the device (localStorage) and in a first-party cookie called kk_consent, valid for 180 days, and can be reviewed or changed at any time from the “Cookie preferences” link in the site footer. Users can also decide whether or not to accept cookies using their browser's settings.
Please note: fully or partially disabling technical cookies may affect the use of site features reserved for registered users. In contrast, public content can still be accessed even with cookies completely disabled.
Disabling “third-party” cookies does not affect browsing in any way.
Settings can be defined specifically for different websites and web applications. In addition, the best browsers allow different settings to be defined for “first-party” cookies and for “third-party” cookies.
For example, in Firefox, through the Tools->Options->Privacy menu, you can access a control panel where you can decide whether or not to accept the different types of cookies, and remove them.

The Site may contain links to other websites that have their own privacy notice (for example, Facebook), which may differ from the one adopted by kokoland.it, and for which kokoland.it is therefore not responsible.
Other/unexpected cookies
Given how the internet and websites work, we are not always able to control the cookies stored by third parties through our website. This is especially true where a web page contains what are known as embedded elements: text, documents, images or short videos that are stored elsewhere but are displayed on or through our website.
If, therefore, a cookie is found on the website that cannot be attributed to one of the third-party services listed, please let us know. Alternatively, you can contact the relevant third party directly and ask for information about the cookies they send, for what purposes, how long they last, and how they protect users' privacy.
