Junior
Junior is KOKOland's English pathway for young people aged 11 to 13. Every week there are 120 minutes of English, in two sessions: LANGUAGE LAB and SPEAK UP, always in groups of up to 6. The pathway leads towards A2 Key and B1 Preliminary for Schools.

Sessions alternate conversation, pair and group activities, language games, problem solving and Cambridge preparation. Grammar and vocabulary always have a practical context, helping students understand, interact and communicate with growing independence.

Inside our method
The first 60-minute session develops grammar and vocabulary in a practical context, through communicative activities and Cambridge preparation.
What this looks like in practice:
Verb tenses, questions, comparatives, modal verbs, discovered through authentic examples and reinforced with team challenges on the interactive whiteboard.
School, free time, sport, technology, travel, the environment, with the words that are actually useful.
Modelled on the Cambridge for Schools exams, with strategies for understanding even unfamiliar words.
Messages, emails, stories and articles, written and corrected together: the same text types required by A2 Key and B1 Preliminary.
Quizzes, challenges and interactive whiteboard games are designed for their age: at 12, students learn more when there's a challenge, and attention stays high throughout the 60 minutes. The method is updated every year, with topics close to their interests.
A voice that travels
In the second 60-minute session, students use English in conversation, pair and group activities and problem solving, building confidence and independence.

Here too, groups are of up to 6: in every session, each student speaks at length, not just once.
Milestones, year after year
The goals follow CEFR levels, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and the Cambridge for Schools certifications, designed for school-age students. Students work on all four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

And, above all, what shows outside the classroom: young people speaking English without freezing up, on holiday, at school, in front of a screen.
A2 Key for Schools and B1 Preliminary for Schools are Cambridge certifications designed for young learners and recognised internationally. A2 Key has three papers (reading and writing, listening, speaking); B1 Preliminary has four (reading, writing, listening, speaking). At KOKOland, they're sat on site, at the end of the year, in the classrooms where students study every week: their comfort zone.
The certificate records the level reached on the CEFR, and students who go beyond the target level get that recognised too. The exam is optional: everyone is prepared, the teaching team suggests the level, and then the student and family choose whether to go ahead. It's a way to test yourself, not the finish line of the pathway. Everything about Cambridge exams
An independent school and its method
KOKOland is an independent school, founded in 2022. With older students, what makes the difference is the time spent actually using English, and the care given to every group.
LANGUAGE LAB and SPEAK UP, 120 minutes in total, always in groups of up to 6.
Certified and trained in the KOKOland method: it's our standard, with no exceptions.
Calls with partner schools abroad and My Writing Pal: students use the language with peers from other countries.
We don't pay royalties or fees to a brand: we reinvest in the method, the spaces, training and our teachers.
A lean school means more attention for every student, in groups where everyone speaks.

The journey continues
Junior is one stage on the KOKOland pathway, from age 1 to 18. Students coming from KOKO Primary find the same method and team again; at age 14, they move on to Teens, working towards B1 Preliminary and B2 First for Schools. In the summer, there are also study holidays in England with the KOKOland team.
